Canaryly

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies when you use the Canaryly iOS app or visit the official Canaryly website. Canaryly is operated by Shenzhen Qinghai Network Technology Co., Ltd. ("Canaryly," "we," "us," or "our"). We value your privacy and want this policy to clearly explain how information is handled.

Please read this policy before using Canaryly. Canaryly's translation features connect to third-party AI services that you configure. Those services may have their own rules for handling the information they receive, so please also review their privacy policies and related documentation.

Overview

Canaryly is an AI-powered translation tool that works with text you actively select. You do not need to create a Canaryly account to use it.

The current version does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Translation requests are sent directly from your device to the third-party AI service provider you configure and use in the app. They do not pass through relay servers controlled by Canaryly. Canaryly does not store the text you submit for translation or the resulting translations on its own servers.

Information We Process

Translation Requests

When you select text in another app or system interface and invoke Canaryly to translate it, Canaryly assembles the following information on your device and sends it directly to the third-party AI service provider over an encrypted network connection:

  • The text you actively select and ask to translate;
  • Your custom translation instructions, or Canaryly's default translation instructions;
  • Access credentials you configure, such as an API key; and
  • Network information necessarily involved in completing the request, such as your IP address, request time, and protocol-related information.

The third-party AI service uses this information to verify access, process the translation request, and return the result. When you enter access credentials and confirm your settings, those credentials are also sent directly to the service to verify that they are valid.

The text you select may contain personal information about you or others. Submit only what is necessary to complete the translation. Avoid submitting identity documents, financial information, medical information, passwords, or other unnecessary sensitive information. Before submitting another person's personal information, make sure you have the right to do so.

Website Visits

When you visit the Canaryly website, infrastructure providers that host, distribute, and secure the site may process standard request information needed to deliver its pages. This may include your IP address, browser or device type, requested resources, date and time of access, and log information used to diagnose issues and prevent abuse. We use this information only to deliver, maintain, and protect the website.

Support and Communications

If you email us, we process your email address, the content of your message, and any screenshots, attachments, diagnostic information, or other materials you choose to provide. We retain necessary correspondence so that we can respond to your request, resolve issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Please do not send information unrelated to your request.

Data Stored Only on Your Device

Access credentials such as your API key are stored in the iOS system Keychain. Keychain items are configured for use on the current device only. They are not synchronized through iCloud Keychain or uploaded to Canaryly's servers.

Your custom translation instructions and selected model preference are stored in the app's shared container on your device, allowing the Canaryly app and translation extension to read the same settings. Canaryly does not upload these settings to its own servers. Your custom translation instructions are sent to the third-party AI service provider only when you initiate a translation.

Canaryly does not create a translation history on your device or persistently store the source text you select or the translation returned to you. After the translation panel is closed or the request ends, the app no longer retains this content. This statement does not cover processing performed by the operating system or third-party services themselves.

Why We Process Information

We use the information described above only as necessary to:

  • Verify the credentials you configure for a third-party service;
  • Submit translation requests and display translation results;
  • Save your translation settings and preferences on your device;
  • Deliver, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the website;
  • Respond to support, privacy, and other inquiries; and
  • Comply with applicable law and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Canaryly, our users, or others.

Third-Party Processing and Information Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share personal information for third-party advertising. The following service providers may process information only as necessary to provide and protect the services:

  • Third-party AI service providers: They process the text, translation instructions, access credentials, and related network information sent directly from your device to verify your credentials and generate a translation.
  • Website infrastructure providers: They host, distribute, maintain, and protect the Canaryly website.
  • Email service providers: They transmit and store support emails exchanged between you and us.
  • Professional advisers or government authorities: They may receive relevant information when necessary for legal, security, compliance, or dispute-resolution purposes, or when disclosure is required by law.

Third-party AI service providers independently determine how to process, cache, retain, or delete the information they receive under the terms and privacy policies applicable between you and them. Canaryly does not control processing on their servers. Before configuring and using a service, review the privacy and data-processing documentation published by the provider identified in the app, and use that service only if its safeguards meet your requirements.

We allow third parties to access relevant information only to the extent necessary for the purposes described above. We protect the parts of the processing controlled by Canaryly through measures such as data minimization, encrypted transmission, and secure local storage. Third parties should protect relevant information in accordance with applicable law and their commitments to you, and should not use it for purposes that have not been disclosed to you.

Cookies and Tracking

The Canaryly website currently does not use analytics, advertising, remarketing, or other behavioral tracking technologies, and it does not set analytics or advertising cookies. We do not track your activity on third-party websites through the Canaryly website.

Website infrastructure may use technologies necessary for delivery, security, or load management. If we introduce non-essential cookies or analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and provide choices or obtain consent where required by applicable law.

Information Retention and Deletion

Canaryly retains information that we actually hold only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect legitimate rights and interests. The specific retention period depends on the type of information and the purpose for which it is processed.

You can delete saved access credentials in the app and reset custom translation instructions to their defaults. Other local settings, such as model preferences, can be cleared by removing the app and its data. Because the iOS Keychain is managed by the operating system, simply removing the app may not delete Keychain items. To ensure deletion, first use the in-app option to delete your credentials.

Website security logs and support communications are retained for a reasonable period as needed to provide services, maintain security, handle requests, and meet legal obligations. They are then deleted or anonymized.

Third-party AI service providers independently determine how long they retain the information they receive. To access or delete information they hold, you may need to contact the relevant service provider directly.

International Data Processing

The third-party AI services you choose, as well as website and email infrastructure, may operate outside your country or region. As a result, relevant information may be processed in other jurisdictions whose data-protection rules may differ from those where you live. Where required by applicable law, we will use reasonable contractual, technical, or organizational safeguards for cross-border processing for which we are responsible. Cross-border processing independently performed by third parties is governed by their privacy policies.

Information Security

We use technical and organizational measures proportionate to the risks involved, including HTTPS encryption in transit, the iOS system Keychain, local data protection, and access restrictions. However, no method of storage or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Keep your device and access credentials secure, and do not share your credentials with others. If you believe your credentials have been compromised, revoke or replace them immediately through the relevant service.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on the laws that apply where you live, you may have the right to learn about, access, correct, delete, or obtain personal information we hold; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and lodge a complaint with a competent authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before the withdrawal.

To exercise these rights, email us at support@canaryly.com. To protect your information, we may need to reasonably verify your identity. These rights may be subject to limitations permitted by applicable law.

Canaryly cannot directly access or delete information independently held by third-party services. For information controlled by third-party AI service providers, website infrastructure providers, or email service providers, we will reasonably assist you in identifying the relevant provider, but you may need to submit your request directly to that provider.

Children's Privacy

Canaryly is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not designed specifically for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support channel, please contact us. We will investigate and take appropriate steps to delete it as required by law. Children who use third-party AI services must also meet the age requirements that apply to those services.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to Canaryly's features, data-processing practices, or applicable requirements. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice through the app, website, or another appropriate channel.
